Three more days!

So, thursday's the big night. We're packing up the moving van thursday night, then we get the keys to the new place Friday at noon. We won't be able to move in till friday night though because we're having the carpets cleaned in the early afternoon. Luckily they said 4-6 hrs to dry, then we can move in. I can't wait! Wednesday night is our last night in this house. I'm gonna miss it, mostly because it was my kids' first and only home they've ever known. It's definitely gonna be strange driving to a different place for the first little while. Especially since the turn off from Deerfoot Trail is the same as we take now. It'll be fun though. I may not post for the next little while, since we'll be moving and getting settled and all that. But as soon as I can, i'll post pictures!

My 101

I've been reading my friend Trace's blog, and got the idea from her to write a list of things people may not know about me. I think it's a great way to get to know your friends, especially if they're online friends that you don't see anywhere other than on the internet. So here goes....

#1 - My family is the most important thing in the world to me.

I know this is probably the same for a lot of people, but it is the #1 thing in my life. There is nothing I wouldn't do for my kids, my husband, or anyone in my family.

Growing up, we used to get together for holidays and events, a lot more than we seem to have time for these days, and it was magical. We'd play board games, cards, do puzzles, make home movies about anti aging cream (anyone remember Mary Kay's sister Oh?)

When I was 20, my grandparents and 2 of my aunts were in a terrible car wreck. Everyone survived, thank goodness, but there were broken hips, collapsed lungs and other problems associated with that type of accident. I quit my job, and the day after I heard about the accident I was out to the Okanagan to help my family. I stayed at my aunty M's house and cooked meals for my Uncle Randy (sorry about that hamburger soup!) I went over to my grandfather's house everyday to make sure he wasn't lonely without my grandma. (she had been in a coma for a while and had to stay at the hospital) My papa and I became very close during those three months i was there. In fact, I think everyone involved became a lot closer that summer.

Since I married Dennis, my family has only doubled in size! His family and my family are so similar, that it seems that I've been there since childhood. I love every single person in that family as if they were my blood relatives.

Time's counting down

Time is counting down to the big move. 2 weeks to go, and I'm almost ready. I packed away almost all my kitchen stuff this week. All my tupperware, 1/2 the dishes, all the dry goods we wont' need till we move, all in boxes. All the boys' toys are packed, except for a few cars that they constantly play with. Next weekend will be the big pack, and then just a few days after that, the big move. It's come so quickly, even though 4 months ago, it was so far away! LOL.

My friends Boo and Mikey came down with Pierre and Monica. Pierre is here on an exchange from Quebec. They went to Drumheller yesterday to check out the dinosaurs, then today , we went to the zoo. Now Robbie's crashed out and later tonight I'm gonna try to kidnap Boo and have some girl time!

Yeehaw!

T minus 3 weeks

So, three weeks till the big move! September 1 is coming up fast! I'm about 1/2 packed, thanks to a lot of it being done three months ago when we sold our house and had to declutter. Thing is, since we haven't used that stuff in three months....do we really need it? Looks like I'll be sorting through a bunch of boxes after we move.

Had Siobhan over for the long weekend. (she's my 11yr old niece) and we had a blast! We went to Calaway Park, the beach, The zoo. It was awesome! She was such a big help with the boys too. They loved hanging out with their cousin.

Wish i had some pics to show you guys of our weekend...but I broke my camera  a while back, and haven't gotten a new one yet.

Heritage Park!

So yesterday I took the boys to Heritage Park. Thanks to the Mom and Tot's group for sponsoring that! What a great day! The boys loved it! We were there for 6hrs and only saw one corner of the park. We went on the steam train twice, the wagon ride, the amusement park rides, and best of all, the SS Moyie.  I have a picture of Gramma, Uncle Gord and Aunt Maureen aboard the SS Moyie, back when Gord and Moe were about....11 and 9ish. (Was before my mom was born, so in the mid 1950's) It was so exciting to go aboard this replica, knowing that my family had been on the original so many years ago. I wish I'd had my camera (bad me for breaking it :( ) but we will definitely go back to get a picture of my kids on that boat. Then I'll have a matching pair of pictures! The boys had a blast, I had a blast! I think we're going to get a season's pass and go there often. There's so much history and neat things to learn there.

Till next time!

Wow, it's been awhile

Wow, i just realized that it's been almost a month since I last posted. Here's a little update.

Clay finished pre school with flying colours! He had such a blast with his friends there. He can't wait to go back this fall!

Canada Day long weekend, I took off to Edmonton and left the boys with Dennis. I had a blissfully quiet 2 1/2 days hanging out with my girlfriend Angel (we call her Boo!) We went shopping, drank lots of coffee and had a great time. Then on the monday, Dennis came up with the boys. Dennis had to work up there for two weeks, covering for someone's holidays. The boys and I stayed with Boo, while Dennis stayed at a hotel, but he came into the city to visit us almost every night. While the boys were there, we went to West Edmonton Mall a couple times and hung out at the World Water Park, Galaxyland and did some more shopping! The boys loved playing on the waterslides and in the wave pool!

Since we've been home, it's been business as usual. Back to the old routine of life, and preparing to start packing up for the big move, even though I still have 5 weeks before we move. I can't wait! It'll be so nice to get into a bigger place, settle in, and get down to business.

That's about all that's been happening. Talk to you soon. Oh yeah, pictures of our trip are in the photo album. Enjoy!
